Smith’s dramedy, MR. WONDERFUL, based on his novel of the same title, will go into production this fall, most likely in Nashville. At once a comic and heart-wrenching family saga, MR. WONDERFUL tells the story of three generations of Fenton men—a millennial on the run from a drug dealer; his father, a jaded professor desperately trying to keep his job; and a proud family patriarch fighting senility— all struggling to find meaning and purpose in life. In the vein of THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU and AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY.
